This is a blog about sheep specifically Corriedales. Corriedales are a dual purpose meat and wool breed that perform well for both uses. They produce great fleece that spinners value highly. Our farm is in central Illinois.

Wool...will keep you cozy and warm
Wool keeps the cold out and warm in. The fleece on these lambs is 1-1.5 inches long. Even with this short fleece, the wool keeps the lambs warm and insulates them so well that the snow does not melt on there backs.

Turnip and oat pasture
This turnip and oat pasture was seeded in August. It was a temporary fall pasture that extended grazing into early winter. I rotational grazed the pasture, using electric fenced paddocks.
